In the current market, companies like Samsung and Amazfit offer smart rings priced between $330 and $495. The RingConn Gen 2, which was recently tested, is available for just under $385. Xiaomi's new smart ring could provide a technologically advanced option that appeals to more customers without making it too expensive.
The patented ring is expected to connect via WiFi, up to 5G, and NFC, and include various sensors like light, temperature, and gyroscope sensors. It may also have a touch panel, microphone, and speaker, allowing it to function similarly to a smartwatch by controlling smart home devices and enabling communication. However, it is not yet clear if these features will be included in a final product, as patent applications do not always lead to product releases. This was seen when Apple stopped working on their smart ring project after filing patents for it.
