Tesla Motors will announce a battery pack for home usage April 30th. The lithium-ion-batteries would offer home users of solar panels (PV) the option to store energy created during the day, and use it say in the evening.
Users with large capacity PV panels can now store energy instead of delivering it back to the grid, making them off-grid solar-powered homes.

Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk tweeted on March 30 that Tesla would announce a “major new product line -- not a car -- will be unveiled” on April 30 at the company’s design studio in Hawthorne, California.
“We are going to unveil the Tesla home battery, the consumer battery that would be for use in people’s houses or businesses fairly soon,” Musk said during an earnings conference call in February.
