Seagate Technology Holdings recently announced the FireCuda 540, a new addition to their SSD technology lineup.
This PCIe Gen 5 NVMe SSD caters to tech enthusiasts, creators, and gamers, bringing top-tier speed and endurance to the company's portfolio of PC storage solutions.
The FireCuda 540, being Seagate's premier M.2 2280 SSD, boasts impressive sequential read and write speeds of up to 10,000 MB/s. Designed for prolonged professional-level gaming and accelerated content creation, this drive outperforms Gen 4 M.2 NVMe drives by up to 50% and SATA-based SSDs by a factor of 17. Powered by the latest 3D TLC NAND technology and a Seagate-validated E26 controller, the FireCuda 540 ensures advanced speed and durability, supporting users in pushing their gaming or content creation boundaries. It is fully compatible with all PCIe Gen 5 motherboards and also backwards compatible with PCIe Gen 4, making it a ready-to-use choice for pioneers in technology.
Lance Ohara, Vice President of Product Line Management at Seagate Technology, shared that the company's decision to incorporate PCIe Gen 5 technology was influenced by the demands of gamers and content creators.
With storage capacities of up to 2 TB and Seagate's signature endurance designed for high-intensity usage, the FireCuda 540 promises a mean time between failures (MTBF) of 1.8M and up to 2000 TB of total bytes written (TBW). This implies that users can write and delete up to 1 TB of the drive capacity daily for a period of five years.
The FireCuda 540 SSD comes equipped with DirectStorage firmware, designed to optimize the PC gaming experience. Additional benefits include a three-year Rescue Data Recovery Service plan and a five-year limited warranty. It also comes with Seagate's SeaTools 5.0 software, facilitating easy management and monitoring of drive performance and health by users.
As of now, the FireCuda 540 SSD is available in two capacities, priced at $179.99 for the 1 TB version and $299.99 for the 2 TB version.
