Scott Herkelman, previously the Vice President for five years and then the Senior Vice President of AMD's Graphics Business Unit for two years, has declared his decision to leave the company. He made this announcement through a tweet, with the transition set to be finalized by the end of the current year.
During his combined seven-year tenure, Herkelman was instrumental in the operations and growth of AMD's GPU division. He was actively involved in the introduction of several Radeon GPU models, including notable additions like the Radeon RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT. Furthermore, he represented AMD in public forums where he introduced these GPUs.
With Herkelman's exit, AMD's GPU division will undergo a leadership transition, entrusting the critical division to the designated successor.
