A new enterprise SSD product that supports 24G SAS connectivity. The 6th generation (128 layers) V-NAND is adopted for the NAND flash, and a large capacity model from 800GB to 30.72TB is lined up.

The controller uses Samsung's original "Rhino". The transfer speed is up to 4,300 MB/sec for sequential reading, 3,800 MB/sec for writing, 800,000IOPS for random reading, and 135,000 / 270,000IOPS for writing, achieving approximately twice the performance of the conventional model "PM1643a" . Combined with Broadcom's next-generation SAS RAID controller, RAID 5 performance can be boosted up to five times. In addition, it supports redundant configuration with a dual port system, so if one port fails, data can be accessed through the other port. Minimize enterprise system downtime.

Samsung has already started shipping samples of the "PM1653" and plans to start mass production in the latter half of 2021.
