Samsung Electronics has expanded its Solid State Drive (SSD) portfolio with the introduction of the 990 EVO Plus, designed to meet the growing demands for high-performance and high-capacity storage solutions. Utilizing the latest PCIe 4.0 interface and advanced NAND technology, the 990 EVO Plus caters to a diverse range of applications, including gaming, business operations, and creative projects. Available in multiple storage capacities, the SSD reaches up to 4 terabytes (TB), providing ample space for extensive data storage needs. The incorporation of Samsung's 8th generation V-NAND technology and a cutting-edge 5-nanometer (nm) controller underscores the product's commitment to delivering reliable and efficient performance for both laptop and desktop computer users.

The 990 EVO Plus SSD delivers significant performance improvements over its predecessor, the 990 EVO. It achieves sequential read speeds of up to 7,250 megabytes per second (MB/s) and write speeds of up to 6,300 MB/s, representing an increase of approximately 50%. These enhancements are facilitated by the integration of Samsung's latest V-NAND technology and a more efficient 5nm controller, which work in tandem to optimize data transfer rates and reduce latency. Additionally, the SSD features a nickel-coated heat shield designed to manage thermal output effectively, thereby maintaining optimal operating temperatures even under heavy workloads. This thermal management contributes to a 73% increase in power efficiency compared to the previous model, ensuring that the SSD operates reliably while minimizing energy consumption.

In response to the escalating need for higher storage capacities driven by large file management, high-definition video editing, and next-generation gaming, the 990 EVO Plus offers configurations up to 4TB. The 4TB variant stands out with an industry-leading random read speed of 1,050,000 input/output operations per second (IOPS) and a random write speed of 1,400,000 IOPS, rivaling SSDs equipped with Dynamic Random-Access Memory (DRAM) caches despite lacking such caches. This makes the 990 EVO Plus an optimal choice for applications requiring rapid data access and processing, such as artificial intelligence (AI) tasks and high-end gaming. Furthermore, the SSD is supported by Samsung Magician software, which provides users with a suite of tools for optimizing performance, managing data migration, monitoring drive health, and ensuring data security. The 990 EVO Plus is available globally with a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $109.99 for the 1TB model, $184.99 for the 2TB model, and $344.99 for the 4TB model, offering scalable solutions to meet varying storage and performance requirements.
