Samsung Electronics has announced the launch of a groundbreaking gaming title, "The First Descendant," which will be the first to feature the High Dynamic Range (HDR) 10+ GAMING standard developed by HDR10+ Technologies LLC.
The game has been developed in collaboration with NEXON and will be unveiled at Gamescom 2023. Seokwoo Jason Yong, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with NEXON and the introduction of the HDR10+ GAMING title. This collaboration signifies Samsung's ongoing commitment to advancing the gaming experience alongside evolving technology.
The HDR10+ GAMING standard ushers in a new era of gaming by offering gamers a more immersive and vibrant HDR experience, with enhanced color, contrast, and brightness. This technology accurately depicts details in both dark and bright areas, allowing players to fully immerse themselves in their gaming adventures. Moreover, HDR10+ GAMING eliminates the need for extensive manual adjustments, enabling an optimized gaming experience with minimal latency and variable refresh rate support.
"The First Descendant" is the inaugural gaming title to leverage the full capabilities of the HDR10+ GAMING standard. This ensures an ultra-responsive, precise, and seamless HDR gaming experience for players.
Samsung co-established HDR10+ Technologies LLC in 2018 to establish an industry-leading royalty-free dynamic metadata standard. The HDR10+ ecosystem has grown significantly, boasting 155 partners and over 7,000 certified devices, including TVs, monitors, projectors, smartphones, and more. This collaboration with NEXON exemplifies Samsung's dedication to providing top-tier visual experiences that transcend entertainment and media consumption.
Samsung's gaming monitors and TV lineups also offer support for the HDR10+ GAMING standard, reinforcing the company's prominent position in the gaming industry.
