Sabrent has introduced a novel KVM switch leveraging Thunderbolt 4 technology, positioning it uniquely within the market. The practicality of KVM switches varies for users, yet this recent model exhibits unique characteristics.

The function of this KVM switch, akin to its counterparts, is to permit two computers to employ shared peripherals and displays. Additionally, the Thunderbolt 4 KVM switch facilitates up to 60 Watts of USB PD charging for laptops, a feature Sabrent integrated into its former USB-C KVM switches. The Thunderbolt 4 version streamlines the configuration by deploying a singular power adapter for both devices, mitigating the necessity for individual USB-C PD chargers linked to the KVM switch. This Thunderbolt 4 KVM switch hinges solely on Thunderbolt 4 for display connectivity, excluding traditional display outputs, yet supports DP Alt mode over USB-C.

Each output can provide up to 8K 60 Hz output with DSC 1.2 or 5K 60 Hz sans DSC. The KVM switch can accommodate three Thunderbolt 4 devices, four USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A devices, and possesses two inputs via Thunderbolt 4. The USB ports facilitate high-speed data transfers up to 10 Gbps. The switch button, furthermore, allows effortless device switching, enabling the KVM switch to be hidden while preserving easy device switching access. Sabrent's Thunderbolt KVM switch is priced at US$299, a higher rate compared to the USB-C KVM switch, which is priced at US$119.99.
