The Ryzen 3 2300X is a processor intended for OEM add-in systems, however as it seems AMD will be inserting it into retail DiY market as well.

Supposedly, March 3 the retail version of this quad-core Zen + processor, four-threads, with 3.5GHz base frequency and 4.0GHz boost with 65W TDP can be obtained in stores. With four cores this processor might actually be a very good budget processor for casual gamers who do not play the most extreme titles and therefore do not require the latest processor with more cores. If you want a little more, might we suggest the Ryzen 5 2600, which costs a bit more and will get you 6 cores and 12 threads?

Remember though, this is not an APU, it will not have integrated graphics, making it a harder to sell SKU.
