Plextor (part of Kioxia these days, which was Toshiba), announced the M.2 SATA3.0 (6Gbps) SSD "M8VG Plus" series that that adopts Kioxia 96-layer 3D NAND flash.
The M.2 2280 form factor uses SATA3.0 (6Gbps) and not NVMe making this a budget series. Equipped with Silicon Motion "SM2258" controller and DDR3 cache with different form factors of "M8 VC Plus" serie .There are three models released in Japan: 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. Nominal transfer speeds are sequential read 560MB / sec, write 520MB / sec (256GB only 510MB / sec), random read 90,000 IOPS (256 / 512GB 85,000 IOPS), write 84,000 IOPS (84,000 IOPS).
Write endurance is 560TBW for 1TB, 280TBW for 512GB, 140TBW for 256GB, 2.5 million hours for MTBF, and a 3-year product warranty. The main body size is 22 mm in width, 80 mm in depth, 2.30 mm in height, and weighs up to 10 g.
The 1 TB version will cost 95 EUR, the 512GB version 55 EUR.
