It is still a rumor, but it's in line with what has been happening. Nvidia would start delivering new RTX GPUs to their AIBs in mid-May. GAxx2 GPU variants will be fitted with a hashrate limiter, but otherwise will be the same existing GPUs.
Videocardz suggests they have been notified that Nvidia wants to ship the first GAxx-xx2 chips with a 'Lite Hash Rate' to its partners around mid-May. The only distinction from a card with such a chip would be the addition of the hashrate constraint.
Logic would assume that graphics cards that get the new GPUs would become available from June, preventing these cards to end up at cryptocurrency miners. End-users would not see or notice any difference with the current models, aside from the hash rate restriction. The LHR GPUs involve GeForce RTX 3090, 3080, 3070, and 3060. From what we understand, the RTX 3090 would be the only SKU not implemented with a hash rate restriction as it is not interesting enough for miners as it is, yet it is mentioned in the new GPU series. In addition to a hash rate limiter, the new variants would also receive support for Resizable BAR (rBAR) without the need for a firmware upgrade.
