NVIDIA appears to have discontinued production of the 12GB RTX 3080, which was released in January of this year.

We learned about this through Twitter user @Zed Wang, who claims that NVIDIA has chosen to discontinue production of the 12GB RTX 3080 because graphics card prices are plummeting and the business has to offload stock. In the United States, for example, the 12 GB RTX 3080 is priced similarly to or, in some circumstances, less than the 10 GB variant.

To counteract the excess of 10GB RTX 3080 cards before the RTX 4000 (Ada Lovelace) arrives later this year, it appears that NVIDIA is discontinuing the card. Another consideration in NVIDIA's decision is that the RTX 3080 Ti costs $1,089, leaving less room in the pricing range for the 12GB RTX 3080 to coexist with the Ti and 10GB variants. According to NVIDIA, this means that users may be enticed to pay more for an RTX 3080 Ti instead of a 10GB RTX 3080 because there are no 12GB options.
