NVIDIA is set to introduce the GeForce RTX 4090 D graphics card in China, aligning with US export regulations. This move comes in response to the suspension of sales for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 in China and certain markets since November 17. The reason behind this suspension was the Total Processing Performance (TPP) of the GeForce RTX 4090 exceeding 4800, leading to its removal from China NVIDIA's product offerings.

The upcoming product, which adheres to the 4800 TPP limit, will bear the name GeForce RTX 4090 D, with the 'D' representing Dragon. This nomenclature ties into the upcoming Year of the Dragon in 2024, marking a distinctive naming choice. Despite the adjustment in naming, the new GeForce RTX 4090 D will continue to be based on the AD102 chip, albeit with a significant reduction in CUDA Cores. Additionally, this graphics card will retain its 24GB GDDR6x memory configuration.

Originally released by NVIDIA in October 2022, the GeForce RTX 4090 utilizes the AD102-300 chip within the Ada Lovelace GPU architecture. Its initial price tag was set at US$1,599.
