NVIDIA is recognizing the 20th anniversary of the video game Half-Life 2 by releasing a commemorative video that features a preview of the upcoming Half-Life 2 RTX remaster. The remaster, developed by Orbifold Studios—a team known for projects such as Half-Life 2: VR, Half-Life 2: Remade Assets, Project 17, and Rising the Bar: Redux—is a community-driven initiative using NVIDIA’s RTX Remix technology. The Half-Life 2 RTX project aims to enhance the original game by incorporating full ray tracing capabilities, Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) version 3, and NVIDIA Reflex support, thereby improving visual fidelity and performance.
In conjunction with the tribute video, NVIDIA has initiated the Half-Life 2 Anniversary Sweepstakes, offering participants the chance to win a specially designed Half-Life 2 GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER graphics card. This custom graphics card features a unique wrap inspired by Half-Life 2 aesthetics and utilizes NVIDIA’s advanced RTX 4080 SUPER GPU.
The sweepstakes provides an opportunity for participants to engage with the Half-Life 2 community while potentially acquiring a high-performance graphics card designed for enhanced gaming experiences. Interested individuals can review the official terms and conditions on NVIDIA’s official website to participate in the sweepstakes.
Additionally, Orbifold Studios announced that the Half-Life 2 RTX remaster is now available for addition to wishlists on the Steam platform. This allows fans and players to express interest in the project ahead of its release, providing Orbifold Studios with insights into potential demand and facilitating community engagement. The integration of ray tracing and other NVIDIA technologies in the remaster is expected to offer an updated visual experience while maintaining the core gameplay mechanics that have made Half-Life 2 a seminal title in the gaming industry.
