Noctua has confirmed that the issue with the top fin interlock of its NH-D15 G2 air cooler, which caused excessive noise, has been resolved. The company’s official Bilibili account informed IT Home that the problem of loose top fin interlocking in the flagship NH-D15 G2 air cooler has been fixed. Early users of the NH-D15 G2 reported excessive noise originating from fan vibrations. Noctua identified that this was caused by the cooling fins on the top of the radiator becoming loose during transportation. The loose fins would vibrate due to airflow from the fan, resulting in a noticeable shaking sound.

German tech media outlet, ComputerBase, reported that Noctua has proposed three solutions for users of the NH-D15 G2 who are experiencing this noise issue:

  1. A stainless steel plate is being offered free of charge. This plate can be attached to the side of the loose fin to prevent vibration and eliminate the noise.
  2. Noctua will provide a free replacement for the affected radiator model. This process is expected to begin by late October.
  3. Customers may opt for a full refund if preferred.

The Noctua NH-D15 G2 air cooler is equipped with eight 6mm heat pipes and features two NF-A14x25r G2 PWM fans. It comes in three versions: standard, HBC (high bottom convexity), and LBC (low bottom convexity). The domestic price is approximately $150 USD. We reviewed this kit right here.
