With products like the Steam Deck the handheld industry is becoming more exciting. Logitech is entering this market with a unique strategy, a cloud-based handheld console.
Evan Blass, a leaker, revealed more details about Logitech and Tencent's upcoming handheld gaming system this week. The leak includes photographs of the device's appearance and software capabilities. In early August, Logitech and Tencent announced a collaboration to create a handheld console for streaming AAA games in the cloud via Xbox Cloud Gaming and NVIDIA GeForce Now. If everything goes as planned, the console should be available later this year.
The handheld system is white in color and has an ergonomic shape for easy grip, similar to a fake Nintendo Switch. Two analog sticks, a D-pad, four face buttons, and four triggers are included. The screen displays icons for Xbox Cloud Gaming, GeForce Now, Google Chrome, YouTube, and the Google Play Store, implying that the gadget will support Android applications. A portable powered by Android competes in a different market than the Steam Deck or GPD Win. However, Logitech's gadget will compete with smartphones and other capable Android portable devices, such as tablets.
The console will be powered by a Snapdragon CPU.
According to the leaker, the console will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor, which does not appear to be real, especially given the features that companies want. Ayn's Odin, on the other hand, is a USD280 Android handheld console with Snapdragon technology and cloud gaming. The GPD XP costs around $340 and comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 and similar software functionality. And Logitech and Tencent could price their device in that range to provide good Android game playability for less than half the price of a Samsung Galaxy S22.
On the other hand, those with newer Android phones may have a similar experience when purchasing a controller, especially because the Google Play store already offers native GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming apps.
