The Lenovo Yoga Air 14s 2023 Ryzen Edition has been introduced with the Ryzen 7 7840S Phoenix APU, characterized by a 30W TDP, and is an exclusive addition to the Ryzen 7x40S series. Recently, Lenovo added this model to the Yoga laptop range, integrating the Ryzen 7 7840S processor, based on the AMD Phoenix architecture. This release marks the introduction of AMD's 7040 "Phoenix" APU series into portable computing devices, after certain initial delays

The laptop is equipped with a 14-inch OLED display with 10-point touch capability, presenting a 2944×1840 resolution and 600-unit peak brightness. It supports a variable 60/90Hz refresh rate and covers the DPI-P3 color spectrum with a delta E accuracy of 1.59. This display, coupled with its CPU, targets professionals and content creators. Battery life estimates range from 10 to 14 hours, depending on the usage intensity, while under heavy utilization, the CPU can reach temperatures up to 75°C. The distinct collaboration between AMD and Lenovo has given birth to a custom Ryzen 7 7840S eight-core APU with a 30W TDP profile, specifically tailored for the Yoga Air's compact design. On the other hand, laptops in Western markets often come with the Ryzen 7 7840HS with a 45W TDP, analogous to the 7840H models exclusive to China.

These APUs, similar to the Ryzen Z1 processors designated for handheld devices, have custom power profiles and a standard 30W TDP. This is significantly lower than the Ryzen 7 7840HS and the 7840H versions, both possessing a 45W TDP.

Exclusively, the Lenovo Yoga Air 14s 2023 Ryzen Edition incorporates this AMD APU. It's also available in a 6-core Ryzen 5 7640S version. Reviews from Chinese media predominantly focus on the 8-core variant, which has specifications close to the 45W model, with a maximum boost clock of 5.1 GHz for the Zen4-based CPU and 2.7 GHz for the integrated RDNA3 Radeon 780M graphics. Benchmarks suggest a slight 5% performance gap with the 45W Ryzen 9 7940HS APU edging out its 30W counterpart.

Various media tests, including Cinebench, POV Ray, and the Ludashi benchmark, showed a narrow 5% performance gap favoring the Ryzen 7 7840HS, even though it has a higher power consumption by 15W. Performance-wise, the 7840S model bridges the gap between the 45W version and the older Ryzen 9 6900HS.

In its standard configuration, the Lenovo Yoga Air 14s 2023 Ryzen Edition incorporates the Ryzen 7 7840S processor and a 1TB SSD. Memory options are 16GB priced at 7,999 yuan (1,095 USD) or 32GB for 8,299 yuan (1,140 USD). Available colors include Mercury Silver and Sunlight Reflection.
