A Time Spy benchmark score for the AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT was disclosed, suggesting performance levels on par with the Radeon RX 6800. The benchmark indicates that the RX 7700 XT's performance is similar to that of the RTX 4070 and RX 6800.
When AMD introduced the Radeon RX 7700 XT, they drew a comparison with Nvidia's GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB. AMD's internal benchmarks depicted the RX 7700 XT surpassing the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB by up to 31% at 1440p resolution under maximum settings. Additionally, AMD briefly compared the RX 7700 XT to the RX 5700 XT, an unexpected comparison given the RX 5700 XT's position as a first-generation RDNA graphics card. Interestingly, an RDNA 2 comparison was absent, a more relevant choice given that users generally anticipate RDNA 3 advancements relative to RDNA 2, rather than the original RDNA.
As the Radeon RX 7700 XT is set to be released on September 6th, the public will soon gain insight into the RDNA 3 graphics card's abilities. HXL, a hardware informant, has provided an RX 7700 XT Time Spy score, shedding light on potential performance. However, as 3DMark Time Spy is a synthetic benchmark, its representation of real-world performance can deviate. As such, it's recommended to interpret this leak judiciously.
Benchmark Data of Selected Graphics Cards:
- Radeon RX 6800 XT: 19,517 score, 4,608 GPU cores, 72 RT cores, 16GB GDDR6, 256-bit memory bus, 512 GB/s bandwidth, 300W TDP, $649
- GeForce RTX 4070: 17,840 score, 5,888 GPU cores, 46 RT cores, 12GB GDDR6X, 192-bit memory bus, 504 GB/s bandwidth, 200W TDP, $599
- Radeon RX 7700 XT: 17,000 score, 3,456 GPU cores, 54 RT cores, 12GB GDDR6, 192-bit memory bus, 432 GB/s bandwidth, 245W TDP, $449
- Radeon RX 6800: 16,466 score, 3,840 GPU cores, 60 RT cores, 16GB GDDR6, 256-bit memory bus, 512 GB/s bandwidth, 250W TDP, $579
- GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB: 13,355 score, 4,352 GPU cores, 34 RT cores, 16GB GDDR6, 128-bit memory bus, 288 GB/s bandwidth, 165W TDP, $499
Per HXL's information, the RX 7700 XT achieved a Time Spy score close to 17,000 points, which could place the RX 7700 XT around 3.2% faster than the RX 6800. The data also shows the RX 7700 XT in close competition with the RTX 4070, having a score difference of just 5%. Additionally, the RX 7700 XT scores about 27.3% higher than the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB.
Drawing from technical specifications and historical performance trends, it was anticipated that the RX 7700 XT might mirror the performance of the RX 6800. Further, if AMD optimizes the RX 7700 XT, it may come closer in performance to the GeForce RTX 4070.
The upcoming Radeon RX 7700 XT and RX 7800 XT, powered by the Navi 32 silicon, are scheduled for release on September 6th. The Navi 32, akin to the Navi 31, uses TSMC's N5 process node for its Graphics Complex Die (GCD) and the N6 node for its Memory Chiplet Dies (MCDs). AMD has yet to disclose the precise dimensions of Navi 32. Alongside the Time Spy leak, HXL also presented a GPU-Z screenshot of the RX 7700 XT. Reportedly, Navi 32 is roughly 346 mm² in size, about 3.3% larger than the Navi 22 and 8.7% smaller than Nvidia's AD103.
Scheduled for release on September 6th, the RX 7700 XT and RX 7800 XT have respective price tags of $449 and $499.
