Intel’s third generation 22nm Core series Ivy Bridge processors have been out for quite a while now but Intel is still selling the old 32nm second generation Sandy Bridge alongside the new models but this will change soon (not quite soon though).
As reported by tpu, Intel is planning to stop taking orders for a number of 32nm Sandy Bridge processors from March 29, 2013. They’ll keep on shipping boxed models until supplies last while the tray SKUs will ship until September 27, 2013. The processors that are to be discontinued include Celeron G440, Core i5-2310, i5-2320, i5-2400, i5-2400S, i5-2405S, i5-2500, i5-2500K, i5-2500S, i5-2500T, i7-2600, i7-2600K, i7-2600S and i7-2700K. Surprisingly, Intel will also discontinue Core i5-3450 third generation processor with second generation processors.
