Intel updated its Xeon processor line by adding new four core models, the new processors are all based on Kaby Lake architecture. The E3-1200 v6-family of products have slightly higher clock frequencies and are a notch better on power efficiency.
If you look at the specifications then they match the consumer desktop parts pretty closely. The Xeon models however have support for ECC memory and Intel's vPro.
Most models have been clocked 0.2 GHz higher on the turbo bins. The TDP decreased from 80 Watts towards 73 and 72 Watts (IGP difference). Motherboard like Z170 and Z270 will be compatible after a firmware update since the processor is not based on a new socket.
