HP has introduced the all new HP ElitePad 900, a tablet that balances a beautiful design with enterprise-grade features, functionality and support. The HP ElitePad Smart Jackets, which add connectivity options and an additional ultra-slim battery for longer runtime, along with specific add-ons that customize the tablet for specialized uses. The HP ElitePad is an ultrathin, lightweight tablet designed for Windows 8 that delivers features to keep IT managers happy and touts a design that employees will crave. It offers the full serviceability, enhanced security and manageability found in HP Elite PCs, and military-grade durability for drops, vibration, dust, temperature extremes and high altitude.

The HP ElitePad 900 follows up HP’s Windows 8-powered ultra-portables, All-in-Ones and laptops, and unlike the ENVY x2 convertible notebook, this is a true tablet — but with a twist. HP’s upcoming ElitePad 900 is a powerful Windows 8 tablet aimed at enterprise users, but it will likely appeal to consumers as well. The device features a large 10.1-inch high-definition display and it weighs only 1.5 pounds thanks to a 9.2-millimeter thin aluminum case and lightweight Corning Gorilla Glass 2 covering the screen. The slate also sports the latest Intel mobile processors, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 1080p front-facing camera, 32GB or 64GB or SSD storage, and optional integrated 4G with hotspot support, and it can handle finger, stylus or voice input.
Things take an interesting turn for the ElitePad 900 when HP’s various “Smart Jackets” are thrown into the mix. Using a unique docking system, this HP tablet can be placed into one of a number of jacket accessories that transform the device and add a variety of functionality. Examples include the Productivity Jacket, which adds an integrated keyboard, connectivity ports and an SD card reader, and an Expansion Jacket that adds USB, HDMI and other connectivity options as well as an optional second battery. HP will also make various accessories available for the tablet, including a docking station, a rugged case and a stylus. The HP ElitePad 900 will launch this coming January and pricing has not yet been announced.
