GeForce RTX 5000 series currently registers 7 PCBs undergoing verification

NVIDIA is advancing its GeForce RTX 50 series with seven printed circuit boards (PCBs) currently undergoing verification. The upcoming GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 models, both built on the Blackwell GPU architecture, are slated for gradual information releases, with performance metrics still under evaluation. NVIDIA has engaged various Add-In Card (AIC) partners to initiate development projects, aiming for an official unveiling at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025. Testing activities have commenced at NVIDIA’s headquarters in the United States and laboratories in India since late July.

The GeForce RTX 50 series encompasses three primary PCB types: PG144, PG145, and PG147. The PG144 PCB is designated for the Founders Edition models, specifically SKU 30 for the GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition and SKU 45 for the GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition. The purpose of PG144 SKU 50 remains to be confirmed. On the other hand, PG145 and PG147 PCBs are allocated for reference designs produced by various AIC partners. Specifically, PG145 SKU 30 corresponds to the GeForce RTX 5090 Reference Design, while PG147 handles the GeForce RTX 4090 Reference Design under SKU 45, with SKUs 50 and 70 yet to be defined. The exact usage of SKUs 50 and 70 within the PG147 PCB remains unclear, with potential applications in Quadro or other GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards still under consideration.

A critical aspect of the GeForce RTX 50 series involves the cooling modules identified as GB202 and GB203. The GeForce RTX 5090 utilizes the GB202 cooling module, whereas the GeForce RTX 5080 is paired with GB203. Analysis of PG144 SKUs 30 and 45 indicates that GB202 and GB203 share a PIN-to-PIN design, suggesting potential compatibility between the two cooling modules. This design flexibility allows GB203 cooling modules to be used with GB202, the cooling solution for the GeForce RTX 5090.
