The Colorful Battle-AX B850M-E WIFI V14 motherboard recently appeared on the manufacturer’s Chinese website with no official announcement. This microATX board, which measures 244 mm by 235 mm, is built around AMD’s B850 chipset and is compatible with AMD’s AM5 Ryzen series (7000, 8000, and 9000). It comes with two DDR5 dual-channel memory slots that support up to 96 GB (48 GB each) and can reach speeds of up to 7600 MHz when overclocked. There are two M.2 slots available—one that supports PCIe 5.0 x4 and another that supports PCIe 4.0 x4—plus a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot and an extra PCIe 4.0 x4 slot for additional expansion. For wired networking, it uses a Realtek RTL8111K Gigabit Ethernet chip, and for wireless, it includes an Intel AX200 module that provides Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. The board’s design caters to budget-conscious gurus looking for essential features without the extra frills.
Taking a closer look at the design, the board has a simple, black PCB layout and uses a single 8-pin EPS connector for CPU power. There isn’t an integrated I/O rear shield, and cooling is limited to a basic heatsink covering the AMD B850 chipset, with no extra VRM cooling solutions.

The power setup is based on a straightforward 7+2 phase design that suits cost-sensitive builds. The rear I/O panel features a mix of older and modern ports: it even includes a legacy PS/2 port that might appeal to those with a taste for retro setups. Additionally, there are six USB ports (four USB 2.0 and two USB 3.2 Gen 1), DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI 2.0, a Gigabit RJ45 port, two Wi-Fi antenna connectors, and standard audio jacks. A BIOS reset/update button is conveniently placed next to the PS/2 port for easy access during troubleshooting
