Can't remove sticker leftover from your ASRock X670E mobo DIMM slot? They'll replace it.

ASRock made a mistake: the plastic stickers on the DIMM slots are too sticky and leave behind bits of plastic. They now have guidelines about how to get rid of this, and if that does not work, the motherboard can be replaced.

It all started with a post on Reddit, where several users showed photos of the Asrock X670E Steel Legend with pieces of a sticker stuck on the memory slots.

The sticker (shown below) tells you how to insert the memory in the proper slots. It has some information about where to put the memories, a note that says the first boot can take a while, and a chart that shows how long it takes to boot up depending on how much memory you have. In a thread about the problem, one Reddit user says that the data sticker was there so that people would not bring in the motherboard for repair because they thought it was broken. After all, it took so long to boot up. However users are now asking for new motherboards because they can not get the label off without leaving residual on the DIMM slots. The sticker goes right on top of the DIMM slots. If it breaks, it can leave behind a residue that makes it hard for the memory chips and the motherboard to talk to each other.

Ironically, in a press release Asrock said last month that, with the help of AMD, it had fixed the problem of long boot times and was putting in a new BIOS. Boards with updated BIOS do not have those boot times, so they do not need those labels. This only happens with the first motherboards that were shipped.

If you have the residual but do not want to send the plate in to be replaced or can't, there are ways to get rid of the label residue. If the leftover is still attached, you can heat it with a hair dryer and then try to peel it off, you can help yourself with a plastic card. ASRock seems okay with replacing the motherboard if you cannot fix this on your end.
