BenQ has introduced the W2720i, a 4K Digital Light Processing (DLP) projector integrated with artificial intelligence (AI) technologies tailored for home cinema environments. This projector emphasizes a user-friendly setup process and enhanced image quality through its AI Cinema Mode. The mode employs machine learning algorithms to automatically adjust real-time ambient brightness and apply content-specific optimizations, ensuring optimal picture performance across varying lighting conditions without the need for manual adjustments.

A central feature of the W2720i is BenQ's CinematicColor technology, which ensures precise color accuracy immediately upon installation. The projector undergoes factory calibration conducted by a specialized team certified by THX and the Imaging Science Foundation (ISF), ensuring compliance with industry-standard color spaces such as DCI-P3. Each unit includes a factory calibration report, validating a D65 color temperature and a Delta E value below 3, indicating high fidelity in color reproduction with minimal deviation from the source material. In addition to CinematicColor, the W2720i incorporates HDR-PRO Technology, encompassing advanced multi-stage light control systems including Global Contrast Enhancer, Local Contrast Enhancer, and Dynamic Black. These technologies support HDR10+ standards, enhancing the dynamic range and depth of images to provide detailed and nuanced visuals in high dynamic range content.

The W2720i utilizes an eco-friendly LED light source, aligning with the growing demand for sustainable solid-state illumination (SSI) in the home theatre market. Compared to traditional lamp-based projectors, the LED light source offers superior color accuracy, an extended operational lifespan of up to 30,000 hours, and quieter performance due to reduced heat generation and noise output. This significantly lowers the necessity for frequent lamp replacements, reducing maintenance costs and ensuring consistent, high-quality image output over time. The projector also offers comprehensive projection flexibility, capable of displaying a 120-inch screen from a distance of approximately 2.7 meters. Its optical capabilities include a 1.3x zoom range, Auto Screen Fit for automatic aspect ratio adjustment, 8-point Corner Fit for precise image alignment, and Vertical Lens Shift for flexible placement without compromising image quality.

In terms of connectivity and entertainment options, the W2720i is equipped with a built-in Android TV platform that supports 4K streaming services such as Netflix and Disney+. The projector provides three HDMI 2.1 ports compliant with HDCP 2.3, as well as SPDIF and eARC connections, facilitating 7.1 channel audio with Dolby Atmos pass-through. These connectivity options enable seamless integration with various soundbars and external speaker systems, enhancing the overall home entertainment setup. The projector's design and feature set are geared towards offering a versatile and high-performance solution for home cinema enthusiasts, balancing advanced technical specifications with user-centric functionalities. The W2720i is priced at approximately $2,199 USD, positioning it within the mid to high-end segment of the home theatre projector market.
