ASUSTOR Inc., a prominent network-attached storage (NAS) provider based in Taiwan, has unveiled its latest high-performance NAS lineup, the Lockerstor Gen3 series, on October 8, 2024. This series features a quad-core Ryzen Embedded processor, enhancing computational capabilities and ensuring efficient data management. The Lockerstor Gen3 models are designed to cater to varying storage needs, offering scalability and robust connectivity options. Each unit is equipped with four LAN ports, comprising two 10-gigabit and two 5-gigabit Ethernet connections, facilitating high-speed network integration. Additionally, the series supports USB4 with a bandwidth of 40 Gbps for high-speed external storage connections and includes four M.2 slots with PCI Express 4.0 (x4) interfaces. These M.2 slots can function both as storage expansions and cache memory, providing flexibility for different operational requirements.

The Lockerstor Gen3 series is available in four distinct models: Lockerstor 4 Gen3, Lockerstor 6 Gen3, Lockerstor 8 Gen3, and Lockerstor 10 Gen3, each tailored to specific storage capacities and performance needs. The Lockerstor 4 Gen3 model, identified by the model number AS6804T, features four hot-swap bays, 16GB DDR5-4800 ECC memory, and an 8GB eMMC flash memory. It utilizes a single 120mm cooling fan and is powered by a 90W AC adapter, with dimensions of 170mm (W) x 230mm (D) x 185.5mm (H) and a weight of 3.2kg. Priced at approximately $1,299, it is currently available for purchase. The Lockerstor 6 Gen3 (AS6806T) expands to six hot-swap bays while maintaining similar memory specifications and cooling solutions, supported by a more robust 250W power supply unit. The larger models, Lockerstor 8 Gen3 and Lockerstor 10 Gen3, offer eight and ten hot-swap bays respectively, enhanced cooling with dual 120mm fans, and increased power supply capacity, making them suitable for more demanding storage environments. These models are scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2024, with pricing details to be announced.

Overall, the Lockerstor Gen3 series by ASUSTOR represents a significant advancement in NAS technology, combining high-performance processors with versatile connectivity and storage options. The inclusion of DDR5-4800 ECC memory ensures data integrity and system reliability, essential for both enterprise and advanced personal use cases. The hot-swap bays across all models facilitate easy drive replacements and scalability, minimizing downtime and maintenance efforts. With comprehensive support for high-speed networking and external storage, the Lockerstor Gen3 series is positioned to meet diverse data storage and management needs efficiently.
