ASUS has announced the release of its new Wi-Fi 6 router RT-AX1800U, now available in the retail market. The router, priced at around €80-90, features dual-band support, with a 2.4GHz band of up to 574Mbps and a 5GHz band of up to 1,201Mbps.
The MU-MIMO and OFDMA technology allows multiple devices to be connected without experiencing stability issues. Moreover, the router comes equipped with the Trend Micro "AiProtection" feature, which helps secure IoT devices from viruses and unauthorized access. The RT-AX1800U router uses MediaTek MTK7621A (dual core / 880 MHz) CPU, with 256 MB RAM and 128 MB flash memory. It also features 2 x 2.4 GHz band and 2 x 5 GHz band antennas, a Gigabit WAN interface, three Gigabit LAN interfaces, and one USB 2.0 port, which can be used for tethering with a USB-connected 3G/4G dongle. With a total network speed of about 1800Mbps (574Mbps on the 2.4GHz band and 1201Mbps on the 5GHz band), the RT-AX1800U is 1.5X faster than an 802.11ac 2x2 dual-band router.
The router's body is 190mm wide, 126mm deep, 188mm high, and weighs 364g. Additionally, it supports ASUS' own "AiMesh" mesh function.
