This update seems to have a negative impact on the console's performance. Earlier firmware updates notably boosted the performance of the Ryzen Z1 Extreme-based handheld device. However, the 319 BIOS update seems to have counteracted these enhancements.

Recent coverage from HotHardware highlights an issue with the ASUS ROG Ally 319 firmware update, available via MyASUS software. The initial anticipation for the 319 firmware update centered on improved gaming experience at 9W power levels. However, the testing phase revealed the contrary. Instead of providing a performance boost, it appears to have intensified the problem. Intriguingly, the performance remains sub-optimal even at higher power levels of 15W and 25W TDP, as demonstrated by YouTubers such as ThePhawX. Despite the fact that the 319 firmware rectifies certain issues, ASUS suggests deferring immediate updates. Whiston Gordon, an ASUS representative, has acknowledged the reported performance degradation and advises users to postpone the update.

For users who have already installed the firmware, ASUS recommends waiting for a performance issue fix or manually reverting to an earlier BIOS version using the ASUS EZ Flash utility. This, however, may pose a challenge to some users. There is currently no specified timeline from ASUS regarding the release of a new BIOS update.

Lastly, AMD's pace in deploying Radeon driver updates for Phoenix-based APUs (such as Ryzen Z1/Ryzen 7 7840U) has been measured. The company has yet to integrate its main Radeon GPU driver branch with the Radeon RX 7600 desktop GPU and RDNA3 integrated GPU series, restricting gamers from accessing the latest optimizations.
