ASUS PG248Q pushes onwards and is supporting an overclocked refresh rate of 180Hz with Nvidia’s G-SYNC variable refresh rate technology. This model is adopts the recent ‘ROG SWIFT’ styling, a series of gaming monitors of which this is a member.

This at default was/is a 120Hz panel frequently overclocked to 144Hz or higher and found pretty much universally in 24” monitors with 120Hz+ refresh rates at the moment. It has a 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) resolution, TN (Twisted Nematic) panel type and a medium matte anti-glare screen surface for effective glare handling. On this monitor it is overclocked to 180Hz and combined with G-SYNC (30 – 180Hz), eliminating stuttering and tearing from the traditional frame and refresh rate mismatches on compatible Nvidia GPUs. A WLED backlight is used, yielding a 350 cd/m² typical maximum luminance.

Bezels are slender, although not remarkably so – unboundedly a limitation of the panel used which will have a moderate panel border to contend with. The stand appears to feature the ‘Light In Motion’ red ring around the stand neck and possibly the ROG motif as seen on the PG27AQ. There is also a joystick (JOG button) for intuitive control of the OSD (On Screen Display) menu system. The stand is fully adjustable, with tilt, swivel, height and pivot adjustment.

We can only assume the usual AU Optronics M240HW01 V8 is used.  Given the specifications and presence of G-SYNC, ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur) will almost certainly feature as well which will please fans of this strobe backlight solution. The stand likely attaches by 100 x 100mm VESA, allowing it to be detached and an alternative VESA compatible stand or mount used. Further details are still forthcoming, including price, availability and port selection. We can at least confirm that DP 1.2 will feature, to support the full capabilities of this display (including G-SYNC), alongside at least one HDMI port which will allow connection to devices such as games consoles.
