Scythe Corporation announced the domestic release of the Arctic brand's "Freezer 36 Black" side-flow CPU cooler (model ACFRE00123A). Scheduled for availability on October 11, the cooler is priced at approximately $34 USD. This air-cooled solution is designed to accommodate Intel's LGA1851 and LGA1700 sockets, as well as AMD's Socket AM4 and AM5, making it versatile for a range of desktop systems. The Freezer 36 Black features a dual-fan setup, each being a 120mm "P12 PWM PST" fan equipped with Fluid Dynamic Bearings, which are known for their durability and reduced noise levels. The cooler's compatibility with multiple CPU sockets ensures that it can be integrated into various builds without the need for additional mounting hardware beyond the included "CPU Contact Frame." However, users must note that installing the contact frame requires the removal of the motherboard's standard ILM, which may void the motherboard's warranty as indicated on the product packaging.

The thermal management capabilities of the Freezer 36 Black are underscored by its construction. The cooler utilizes 59 aluminum fins, each with a thickness of 0.4 mm, to maximize the surface area for heat dissipation. Four 6 mm heat pipes run through the fin stack, facilitating efficient heat transfer from the CPU to the fins. These heat pipes employ a direct touch design, which enhances thermal conductivity by minimizing the thermal resistance between the base and the pipes. The aluminum fins are arranged in a manner that promotes effective airflow, while the dual fans operate within a speed range of 200 to 1,800 revolutions per minute (RPM). This adjustable RPM allows users to balance cooling performance with noise levels, which are rated at 0.35 sones. The airflow capacity of the fans is measured at 56.3 cubic feet per minute (CFM), and they generate a static pressure of 2.2 mmH₂O, ensuring that air is efficiently moved through the dense fin array for optimal cooling performance.

In terms of physical specifications, the Freezer 36 Black measures 126 mm in width, 104 mm in depth, and 159 mm in height, with a total weight of 890 grams. These dimensions are designed to fit within standard desktop cases while providing robust cooling capabilities. The cooler is backed by a two-year warranty, reflecting Arctic's confidence in the product's longevity and performance. Additionally, the package includes 0.8 grams of MX-6 thermal grease, a high-performance compound that aids in thermal conductivity between the CPU and the cooler's base. The installation process, while straightforward, requires careful handling to avoid potential warranty issues related to motherboard modifications. Overall, the Arctic Freezer 36 Black offers a technically sound cooling solution for users seeking reliable CPU temperature management without the inclusion of marketing embellishments.
