AMD has just published two new Unreal Engine 4 and 5 plugins that allow developers to easily add support for FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 2.0 to their games.

AMD FSR 2.0 uses temporal upscaling. This means that FSR 2.0 will not be as straightforward to build as its predecessor, but AMD claims that for games that already have motion vectors and other temporal upscaling capabilities (such as DLSS), the implementation will take days rather than months. Because Unreal Engine currently supports temporal upscaling, adding FSR 2.0 compatibility may be as simple as adding a plugin and tuning it for the game. Temporal Antialiasing is actually required for the FSR 2.0 plugin to function.

The FSR 2.0 plugin includes RCAS sharpening, which means that games that currently have AMD FidelityFX-CAS should disable this sharpening technology first. Conveniently, AMD provides a thorough instruction on how to accomplish this, regardless of whether you're using 4.26.2, 4.27.2, or Unreal Engine 5.
