Yeah, this one is to compete with the Samsung Odyssey G9. Over in the land of the rising sun on Taobao a listing of this monitor has been spotted. The model is tagged as 'EI491CRG9' and available for pre-order (in China).
Similar to the Samsung, the monitor will get a 49-inch ultra-wide screen with a resolution of 5120 by 1440 pixels and a refresh rate of 240 Hz. The product is based on VA and mini led, which should bring good contrast ratios. The 32: 9 screen as such has no less than 2048 local dimming zones. What jumps out of the boundaries is the incredibly high HDR rating, it's listed as HDR 2000 certified, thus it can show an eye soring brightness of 2000 nits. Albeit, we're certain a HDR2000 VESA certification does not even exist ;)
The listed color depth then, the Acer is compatible with a 10-bit color depth on the Samsung 12-bit color depth. Likely both screens will use the same panel, as they are almost identical in terms of specifications.
The pre-order price is something to discuss alright, the Odyssey G9 (2021) is available for roughly 3800 euro while the EI491CRG9 monitor is priced at roughly 1900 euro, that's half the money compared to Samsung.
