The Verdict
Let's sum things up.
The Widio has to be one of the most innovative products this year due to it's Wireless approach, if you are in the market for a device like this that is. It is a very straightforward product that is truly easy to control. Setting this device up was simple as counting 1-2-3 The reproduction of sound is of really good quality. The package itself is luxurious, the components are high quality. Indoors you will have no problem with reception at all, it does what the box states, transmit a 2Mbit audio stream to that very light and colorful receiver. It takes sound from one point and transmits it to another. It's that simplicity that can make the product a very interesting one. From a soundophile point of view the difference in sound from point a to b is equal. The battery will last a good 4 hours and is recharged quickly by simply placing the receiver in the transmitter cradle.
The pricetag however is rather steep, so steep that I doubt that people will overcome that obstacle. This product has to be the result from an enthusiast R&D guy at Albatron who saw his dream come true. It's a very unique product yet it has to compete with USB flash music devices that offer way more for the same amount of money. If you do have an interest for this product then all I can say is, it really is good quality, the choice of the ATH-EM7s for the Deluxe model was a very clever one. They look stylish, sound pretty good and are easy to wear.
All in all, it does what it needs to do very well, the Widio is a unique product that delivers high quality audio from point A to B within the range of the receiver. Everywhere where there is a need for headphone's and cables are out of reach the Widio is a very good alternative.
