The Musketeer 3 is a very retro looking thing, with both analog VU meter and a vacuum tube.

CoolerMaster sent us a black façade Musketeer 3, which shows off the VU and tube really well.  As for the tube itself, it does not glow orange like this in normal operation.  There's an LED back there.  Tubes do glow orange from the heaters, but the electrons give off a blue color.

 

You're switched on, baby!

Taking a look behind the curtain, we can see the cicuit board isn't too busy, but then tubes are from a simpler time.

The 4-pin Molex connector, and the transformer to raise the voltage.  Usually, tube amps have two transformers, one for input and another for output.

Just a side-note, the eerie light is from and honest-to-goodness sundog.  A certain Canadian graphics company named one of its cards after the atmospheric effect.

The step-up transformer boots the 12V up to around 300V, so yes, please heed the warning.
