SSD Performance AS SSD Benchmark

AS SSD Benchmark

The AS SSD benchmark is a fairly neat little two in one, and whilst it may appear simple (and, well... it is), the results it produces are very consistent. Enough to be reliable, certainly. Here, we will run both the normal read/write tests, as well as the included compression benchmark.

Up until we get to the 4k 64T (thread) write test, we see very solid performance from the PD400, consistently beating out the Seagate drive. That is, until said test, then we appear to fall off the cliff without a parachute, crashing into the ground with a thud. The PD400 scores a fairly shocking 102 MB/s of 4k read. I was astounded by this, and re-ran this test several times, all with the same result.

The rest of the AS suite consists of a compression benchmark, and results remaining somewhat mediocre. The PD400, here, I would argue, is actually fairly poor in comparison to the Seagate drive. Whilst faster overall, slightly, the PD400 is markedly more inconsistent, with frequent dips in performance, especially on writes.

Next, we move onto Si Soft Sandra, a comprehensive 'all system' benchmark suite that - nonetheless - has a good range of tests available for your storage media.
