Final words and conclusion

The new MSI Vigor GK50 Elite TKL is a solid addition to the company's portfolio. It is affordable, well-built, and features quality keyboard switches. Our unit came with Kailh Red switches, but Blue and White options are also available. Tenkeyless keyboards are becoming increasingly popular, and this model fits well even on a small desk. It is portable enough to carry in a backpack, and the detachable USB Type-C cable adds to its convenience.

Note that many functions are accessed via the Fn key and related media keys. The MSI Vigor GK50 Elite TKL uses Kailh Red switches, which are a safe choice for those new to mechanical keyboards. The keyboard comes with PBT keycaps, which are more durable, but lacks a palm rest. However, adding a palm rest would increase the size and defeat the purpose of the tenkeyless form factor. The keyboard is compatible with MSI Center software. Through the software, users can customize the dynamic per-key RGB backlighting. The build quality is excellent, thanks to the aluminum chassis, leaving little room for complaint. The RGB lighting can be configured using MSI Mystic Light software, which is a user-friendly suite. The overall quality of the keyboard is good, with a sturdy metal frame providing durability. The rubber feet ensure the keyboard stays in place, and the height is adjustable in three settings. There is no palm rest, volume roller, or dedicated media controls, which is standard for the tenkeyless keyboard type. It does not include a USB pass-through

Aesthetics

The Vigor GK50 Elite TKL is a nice addition to the range of MSI keyboards. Thanks to the TKL factor, it looks subtle and attractive. There are no bold design choices here from the aesthetic point of view, but that makes sense. The LED lighting system works very well (vivid and crisp colors). If you want, you can individually adjust each key to your preference. Even anti-RGB guys should be satisfied, as you can make the backlighting, e.g., all-white, or use it only on some of the keys.

Final words

The mechanical keyboard market was already crowded four to five years ago, and now there is even more competition. The Vigor GK50 Elite TKL is a noteworthy addition to MSI's portfolio, offering good overall features at an affordable price: $64.99 for the Red and Blue switches and $74.99 for the Box White switches. The Kailh Red switches provide good feedback and user experience, performing well in both gaming and typing. Users should be aware of the clicky sound associated with these switches. The overall quality is more than satisfactory, and the lighting is vivid with no complaints. The keyboard offers 6+N-Key Rollover and full-key anti-ghosting, with a polling rate of 1000 Hz. A scratch-resistant, breathable drawstring bag is included for easy storage and portability. On the downside, there are no dedicated media keys, volume roller, palm rest, or USB pass-through, but this is not surprising for a keyboard at this price point and TKL form factor. The keycaps are made from ABS rather than PBT, but this is a minor issue. In summary, it deserves a bronze rating due to its good price, build and lighting quality, and the user experience provided. Even for those who are not fans of TKL keyboards, it is an enjoyable product
