The internal 8-core Arc GPU operates at speeds up to 2.35 GHz, positioning itself as a competitive option against the Radeon 780M. Performance evaluations suggest substantial performance enhancements compared to older Xe-series integrated GPUs. The Arc GPU supports DirectX 12 Ultimate, enhancing its capability with advanced features such as ray tracing and AI-assisted frame generation through Intel’s Xe Super Sampling (XeSS). This technology aims to optimize visual fidelity in gaming and other graphics-intensive applications. It includes hardware support for encoding and decoding popular video codecs like AVC, HEVC, and AV1, ensuring efficient video processing capabilities. Performance variability is noted to depend on several system factors including the CPU power limits, the effectiveness of the system’s cooling solutions, and the speed and configuration of the RAM. Intel emphasizes the importance of a multi-channel RAM setup to achieve optimal performance from the Arc GPU, highlighting the integral role of system memory in maximizing the potential of this graphics unit. We will include three games tested at a resolution of 1920x1080, slowly but steadily we're getting towards acceptable performance. All results drawn are best on the best image quality settings.
