Here we go, the USB 3.1 Gen 2 unit, we received the 128 GB model. The internal SSD that Plextor uses is sharing a lot of values with the M7 series SSDs. It's average power usage is roughly 1 to 2 Watt that we could measure hence it will not need an external power source. The device will power and feed itself completely from the USB connector. The unit uses a USB Type C compatible with USB 3.1 (Gen 2, 10Gbps), 3.0, 2.0.

The storage device is rated at a nice 550 MB/sec for reads and 500 MB/s writes (sustained/linear) over 3.1 (Gen 2, 10Gbps) (Windows 8.1 or 10 needed for the fastest transfer numbers), and that is comparable with modern age SSD and NAND Flash storage, for our purposes it'll do just fine alright ! Included are a small manual USB 3.1 Type C to Type A Cable and Flannel Bag. It's all you need really.

The design of unit is slim -- 101.2 x 31.6 x 8.7 mm / 3.98 x 1.24 x 0.34 inch my man, that isn't a lot for a portable SSD storage unit, you can slip it into your jacket easily with a weight of just 30 grams. The EX1 is designed to last, a nice hard outer shell combined with a plastic strip on the edges.

As stated. the unit has a weight of only 30 grams and should be rather shock resistant. You can use the unit seamless on any PC & Mac computers — no driver is needed with Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 and Mac OS 10.4+ The unit is easy to set up and can be protected and encrypter with the help of a software suite. You receive a comfortable five year carry-in warranty with the EX1 series SSDs.
