When we tested the Mk III series from PC Power & Cooling I had the strong hunch that the PSU originated from Seasonic. That's not bad, contrary they make excellent power supplies. With the Mk II series like tested today you can see a different product and all the PC Power & Cooling variables that we've learned to love and like surface again. The power supply delivers good voltage stability and comes with that massive traditional single 12 Volts rails. Combine that with the non-modular design and you can recognize the a real PC Power & Cooling product.

The overall build quality is very good, and being called Silencer does it's name justice, this Mk II is much more silent then the Mk III alright.

Efficiency wise we have no doubt that the PSU delivers as promised, no remarks there. Mind you that a PSU is the most efficient at 50% load. So we always like to recommend that IF your choice is being greener and more power efficient (which saves money on the electricity bill as well), then we recommend you to calculate your average load, and double that up in Watts PSU wise.

Example: if you expect your PC to draw 250 Watt on average in usage, a 500 Watt PSU would be the best alternative if maximizing efficiency is your goal.

Non modular cables, I'll be honest here, personally I worship modular cables on power supplies as you get to use the cables that you need. How to describe it, grabbing the Mk II makes you feel like you have a squid in your hands with all the cabling being tentacles. So with the Mk II Silencer 750W you will need to find a way to hide all the cables inside the PC. And I should note, a lot of people have a closed PC and absolutely do not care about the wires inside it. To each their own preference I guess.

Connectors wise there's a decent choice available all of them with okay length. I say okay as I find the ATX motherboard and CPU power cables 10cm too short for each. The peripheral connectors though are nice and lengthy and run up-to a meter in length. Overall looks then, can I say the PSU looks OK, but it's just that ? The cables are sleeved but you can still see yellow, red and black wires through them. Sleeving really should be dense non-see-through black. The same can be said about the connectors ... preferably they'd be all black.

Gorgeous is the fact that the PSU is covered with a seven year warranty (carry-in), so that definitely brings additional value to to table.

But let me round it up. The Silencer Mk II series is a good looking power supply but lacks a modular cable design. We adore the big 12V rails, the exceptional build quality and appreciate the fact that this PSU is very stable as a result of that. The noise levels under load are quite decent, in fact much better then the Mk III series. Good to know is that the 750W rated PSU can even peak towards 820W, meaning you have some reserves left.

The build quality just seems to be top notch as you can and should expect from PC Power & Cooling. It's a top quality PSU with decent 80+ Silver efficiency that won't cost you an arm and a leg to purchase, as such it comes recommended. But whether or not the overall non-modular design and slightly outdated looks are an issue for you, well .. that's something for you to decide. Personally I'd prefer quality over aesthetics any time, any day, anywhere.

What about pricing then ? Well, the model we tested today is tagged at 109 USD on NewEgg at the time of writing this article, after a rebate it sells for 89.99 USD actually. Now the prices in the EU still have to become live, but with that build quality, efficiency level and 7-year warranty we'd like to recommend the Silencer Mk II 750 Watt very much.
