SSD Performance HD Tune PRO | AS SSD Benchmark
HD Tune Pro 4.5
HD Tune Pro is a hard disk utility and benchmarking utility for Windows. This tiny application allows you to scan your hard drives in search for errors or take a deeper look at several performance figures coming from the storage unit.
First off a sequential file test. We fire off 64MB of data comprising out of sizes ranging from 0,5 KB to 8 MB. Check it out. As you can see once we pass 128KB file sized the RevoDrive really kicks in hard.
Maximum peak writes are roughly 350 MB/sec with over 500MB read peaks.
In HDTune we average out roughly 233MB/sec on sequential writes though, very good performance but we expected that to be much higher. Definitely not up-to snuff with what you'd expect.
Write performance, we know that the 34nm NAND memory is slightly slower overall. Once we start to measure write performance we see figures reach a continued write performance averaging out at roughly 164 MB/sec and that is just on the low side for a dual RAID0 SF1200 product. We do see this behavior a lot on SandForce based products and this software test suite in particular.
The latest edition of HD Tune Pro allows random access read and write testing, a feature not availableĀ in other software tools. Check out the 1MB performance topping 468 MB/sec.
Overall "okay" write IOPS performance. We get 22MB/sec on 4KB files returned which is the very same as a single SF1200 SSD with this test. Once we go larger in file-size and look at 1 MB performance, things pick up quickly again.
This should be a tad better though.
AS SSD Benchmark
Newly added to the benchmark suite is this nice little German application called AS SSD Benchmark. This test gives a extensive result set. The test however is and will be popular for it's 4k file size read/write results.
Nothing to compare to just yet, but we did ran some other tests with other SSDs and performance is up-to speed alright. Excellent 4K file write performance, great sequential read performance.
