After the meet and greet is was time to move into the Conference Center as the keynote speech given by Jen-Hsun Huang. The man above is actually Mayor Chuck Reed of San Jose, who gave a little speech about silicon valley, the dynamics and obviously how much he loved that green business.
NVISION 08 was opened officially with a keynote speech by Jen-Hsun Huang, CEO of NVIDIA. Mr. Huang, which we can call by name as Jensen talked about innovations in the field of visual computing. The past, the future, the dynamics and developments.
I won't make a long story out of the conference (well I just don't have the time as I need to run to another conference) yet Jensen talked about visual technology, pretty much covering everything other than gaming with the GPU. He started surprisingly with Folding @Home.
Other topics discussed where visual enhancements on screen. For example adding visual to sport games like football or Nascar racing by way of the GPU. Also a demonstration was given by some new software from Microsoft which allows you to stitch photo's together to make a 3D representation of the environment photographed. For photography itself, using the GPU to enhance photo's. Automotive, designing and creating a car (or any product) with a multitude of rendering techniques (rasterization, shading and ray-tracing) all at once. A demo was shown where HDR was applied. Nothing really new as you can do this with three photo's in Photoshop but still .. the generic consensus was making people aware of the fact that the GPU is more than a product to render games with.
