If you remove the plastic cap then you'll see a small PCB, it hosts a battery of 8 tantalum capacitors that are used to filter and stabilize GPU voltage much like the NEC/Tokin Proadlizer film capacitors we all know.

Above is actually the photo of the Lightning 7970, but it shows the GPU reactor PCB, which is fairly similar to the one on the R7870 HAWK.

Connectivity wise for monitor outputs we see a four-fold of connectors supporting all high-resolution monitors. We get two display port connectors (mini), HDMI and a DVI connector. Since MSI did not fiddle arround with more connectors the DVI connector is dual-link DVI, which is what we'd expect.

The new Twinfrozr cooler does an excellent job by the way, even pre-overclocked at 1100 MHz the temps during gaming remains at roughly 67 degrees C (hottest peak temp). The new design looks a little better as well. Under the metal casing there are aluminum fins connected to five 8mm heatpipes.

The cooler also comes with Dust Removal technology, meaning once you power up the PC, for the first 30 seconds the fans will spin backwards trying to get rid of any dust.
