The Ampere series is going to replace the Turing lineup, which will fade out of the market as these new cards sit right on top of their prices, yet are much faster. So what will the 3090 Replace? Well noting, as the 2080 Ti already was dominated by the RTX 3080 and that one 'only' had 8704 stream/Shader processors.

  • The reference 3090 cards have a peak boost clock up-to 1.70 GHz, with the base clock hovering in the 1.40 GHz domain.

As mentioned it weighs in at roughly 1.5 kg, so be sure when installing you do that carefully as when not secured with screws you could easily snap that PCIe Slot of yours. Also, be aware of the fact that the product oozes heat a lot, you'll need a good ventilated PC with a properly located intake(front)  and vent (read/top). MSI will also include an optional to use bracket preventing the card from sagging down when installed horizontally.

The power limiter gives a bit more leech for this card. The SUPRIM X RTX 3090 also has a higher TGP value, at 420W (!). Weighing in at almost 1.9kg, the card is heavy, so MSI will include a support bracket that can be attached to your PC case for additional graphics card reinforcement.
