The Verdict
Right then, let's sum things up. You'll have to agree with me that the case has an inspiring design for sure. But let's start with the bad. The PSU that did not fit. I'm sure that Lian-Li followed standard design specifications, but really a little more space would have been appreciated. I installed a 150 USD PSU that simply did not fit. Imagine finding that out after you bought every component of your new PC. Secondly the position of the HD's opposed to the mainboard connectors are simply too far away if you still make use of standard Parallel ATA connections (with the flat cable), Serial ATA however is not an issue at all. This could have been prevented by making an opening somewhat more inside of the casing. I found these two points rather annoying. What I also missed and always has been present on Lian-Li cases, is a removeable mainboard tray. Other then that and a missing reset button this casing is close to perfection though.
The new radical design change is something I have never seen before, it sets a precedent for other PC case builders. Furthermore it's a lovely case to look at, it's lightweight and basically very functional as you have lot's of space to work with. You are prepared with this "almost" tool-less PC case. And before I forget to mention it, you can get this case in either silver or black color.
The innovative cooling is silent but can be heard, the design is awesome and the usability fantastic. There is no way in denying that Lian-Li cases are cheap, it's by far not an expensive case also considering that this is a real aluminum casing. You pay quite a sum of money for them, but it's not a price that most of you would never be able to cough up. I mean, your videocard will cost more and last a way shorter time period right?
The PC-V1000 Plus is highly recommended by yours truly, I will actually transfer all hardware from the primary videocard test system to this one. It's silent, cool and looks awesome (that last one is a bit personal though). If you want to invest some money into a good case then this one is without a doubt a winner. Despite a couple of minor baddies and a steep price you'll still love everything about it. I is a winner and right now probably the best case in this office.
Special thanks to Hampton Technologies for providing us with the Lian Li PC-V1000 Plus for this review.
If you want to see more images of this case being installed with watercooling then head on over to this article where we go in depth on the watercooling kit used, called AquaBOX. This system is passively water cooled.
