It's not a secret that we here at Guru3D.com appreciate AMD's Phenom II series processors. See, combined with AMDs 790FX/GX chipset motherboards we feel PCs based on this platform offer a tremendous amount of value for money.
Sure it's not exactly Core i7 comparable material, but that platform is just so much more expensive and only has a reach in the very high-end and enthusiast performance audience. If you look around a little you can get a very decent AMD 790 based motherboard for 125 USD already. Pop a 150 USD Phenom II X3 720BE processor on there and your baseline performance will be absolutely brilliant, and you reap the benefits of the entire infrastructure. Much connectivity, a lot of features, a stable yet fast platform and if you like to do so .. with the BE processors you can overclock quite a bit.
With these facts in the back of our head we started reviewing more and more AMD 790 based motherboards. Today the turn goes to the folks from Jetway. A company that you do not hear often from. They are rather sizable in OEM production and deliver a lot of material towards other motherboard and graphics card 'manufacturers'. But they handle retail products as well though.
Their somewhat more exclusive motherboard series is tagged as 'Hummer' series. Which always brings a smile to my face as I immediately have to think about that big ass military car. Today we look at the Jetway Hummer HA08-LF motherboard. Armed with a lot of features, performance and an AMD 790GX chipset. There is little to dislike really. Let's get going with this review, next page please.
