Q: What advantages do OCZ SSDs deliver over the competition like Samsung, Micron and Intel.

We have just touched the area of performance slightly when we were talking about the SATA 3 (or 600) bottleneck. Most SSD’s are fast when they just come out of the box. But what happens in time? SSD’s have a tendency to degrade, meaning the cells in the NAND flash get used and used, the drive has more and more data stored and it gets more difficult for the SSD to manage that data well. I won’t bore the reader by getting too technical but in short, it’s called degradation. After that happens (and it will), performance drops dramatically. And this is where OCZ SSD’s a quite different. The SSD’s stay fast; even 4x faster than the next drive in line. It is simply a result of our vision to build fast and reliable SSD’s without the need of any speed-bump tricks. Simply honest and strong performance that comes straight from the core. I know this sounds a bit like a sales pitch, but that’s the reality and I am basing it on independent tests, not our internal data.

Q: In light of that, can you tell us a little about the current #playdirty campaign

Of course our #playdirty campaign is aiming to address what I said just now. The message that we are trying to get across is that when you use any storage device, whether it is an HDD or an SSD, performance will degrade because the device gets ‘dirty’. But that effect should not have to influence performance, which is why we use the slogan “Not afraid to play dirty”. It is more than just a few initial performance nrs and really tells the story of the life of an SSD and we feel it is important to educate the consumer about the degradation and showcase how our products are market leading in that aspect.

Q: Is there anything you like to share with the Guru3D.com community, from which a lot have purchased OCZ products in the past.

Well, first of all ‘thank you for your trust in the brand OCZ and its products. Now being part of the Toshiba group, the new OCZ (Storage Solutions) will continue building top-of-the-line SSD solutions that are and will be designed to improve up your computer experience. Whether it is a game, an application, a network or to initiate database acceleration, we are and will be dedicated to bring out high quality products that last and at a fair price.’

Q: The future for OCZ Storage solutions is looking.... ?

…very bright! The market consolidation is going to continue and being part of Toshiba, the largest NAND manufacturer will enable us to position ourselves as one of few strong SSD players.
