One of the things that took tremendous steps forwards is DDR memory and its frequency. The Core i7 2600K makes use of DDR3 memory, ours is rated @ 1333 MHz. While we did try to apply 2000 MHz, the PC would not boot. A lot has changed alright. Just compare some of the DDR3 and DDR4 memory performance of today, back to the 2011 hardware.
