Performance - DDR3 Memory read | write

Memory Read test

Obviously we also had to peek at memory bandwidth performance. Now, obviously Intel has an advantage here, triple-channel memory. This explains the tremendous amount of read performance for the Core i7 platform.

Now we test memory at reference clocks and here's a small downer, Gulftown utilizes the DDR3 memory at 1066 MHz hence it's slightly slower opposed to the faster Core i7 processors. It's still a massive load of bandwith though.

Memory Write test

The same can be said for the memory write tests. Normally Intel dominates here considering we always use 1333 JEDEC timed memory. Triple channel performance on Nehalem is just frighteningly good. However the 1066MHz limit does lower the memory write performance at roughly 10.000 MB/sec. It's nothing we can't tweak out though.

Let's move onward to some game testing.
