The product reviewed today originates from NVIDIA themselves and as such is the 100% reference model. NVIDIA pulled quite a number in terms of marketing. A week prior to shipping out the card some press (including Guru3D) received a crowbar. To use against zombies or... is marked on it.
Once we received a second package with the actual graphics card it all made sense, the card came in a wooden crate. Honestly I'm a sucker for these things, and absolutely loved the idea. Though I doubt the crowbar made it through customs for everybody :)
Right, as you can see, we have the reference card in house for review. The card itself is 11-inches long, that's give or take 28cm in the metric system. Though not the longest card in the book, please do make sure you have plenty of space inside your chassis. The two power connectors are located at the top side so that'll give you a little extra room to play around with. Where the GeForce GTX 680 has a 1006MHz Base Clock and 1058MHz Boost Clock the GeForce GTX 690 clocks in at 915 / 1019Mhz speeds.
If we rotate the card a tiny bit we can see one SLI connector, yup -- that means two cards for quad-SLI GPU mode is supported. With the card already having two GPUs you thus can literally activate four GPUs. NVIDIA however has never really recommended and actively supported quad-SLI. But for a handful of benchmarks and sheer e-peen, it will work fine.
