First up are the photos of the packaging. Nothing here that would be really different from the regular S2 version. The entire package weighs almost 15 kg, and it’s not exactly small, so the cut-outs on the side that serve as handles are more than welcome. And what would be awaiting us inside the box?
The chassis is very well protected with Styrofoam and a plastic bag, and that helped during the shipping. No damage occurred, and the tempered glass panels (and you have a total of four here) are all right.
Each of the panels is also covered (on both sides) with plastic film. The Fractal Design Define S2 has a classic (mostly), yet also quite a modern look (due to the tempered glass panels). The color is not a surprise, as it is black, but it makes for a a very positive impression. It’s a midsized chassis, measuring 543 × 233 × 465 mm (LxWxH), with a total capacity of 58.83 l.
Inside, you’ll find the user guide and also a very wide box with the:
- Radiator bracket
- Top filter
These accessories come in handy if you want to switch the top tempered glass panel to the ventilated one.

Overall, you can’t really complain about the accessories that Fractal Design has provided, and they’ve even included a piece of cloth for cleaning the tempered glass panels. Let’s proceed to the evaluation of the exterior.
